September 20, 2003
The cast of "A Mighty Wind" played a show in Los Angeles in May and now they're bringing their act to the east coast. Before the release of the DVD on Tuesday, the entire cast, comprised of the three musical acts The Folksmen, Mitch & Mickey, and The New Main Street Singers, will be playing two shows at New York City's Town Hall tonight, and a total of three shows at Washington D.C.'s 930 Club on Sunday the 21st and Monday the 22nd. 'The Event' in LA/NY October 3rd

September 20, 2003
'The Event' will have a theatrical debut on October 3rd in Los Angeles and New York. Whether or not it opens in more cities will most likely depend on any success in those two cities. Reviews have been pretty mixed overall and the production company hasn't released much to the press, which doesn't bode well. One picture of Parker has been released and you can view the image by clicking the thumbnail on the left. The film has since played at the Toronto Film Festival.

The 'Laws of Attraction'

September 20, 2003
Parker is set to star in the upcoming New Line Cinemas feature, "Laws of Attraction" which also stars Pierce Brosnan and Julianne Moore. Filming has wrapped up with shoots in both Ireland and New York. "Laws" is a comedy about two New York divorce attorneys, played by Brosnan and Moore, who are often in competition with each other but also end up falling for each other. Parker's character is part of a very public divorce from her rock star husband. The film also stars Mina Badie who was one of the neighbors in "The Anniversary Party."

'Adam & Steve' & Parker

September 20, 2003
Another movie Parker is set to film is "Adam & Steve" due out in 2004. The film also stars Chris Kattan, Malcolm Getts and Craig Chester who is also the films writer and director. Chester has previously worked with Parker on the films "Frisk" and "The Misadventures of Margaret." The film "Adam & Steve" is a comedy which explores the lives of two New York City couples, one which is straight (Parker and Kattan) and one which is gay (Getts and Chester). Filming will be starting soon in New York City.

Parker the Rock Star!

September 20, 2003
Parker learned to play the mandolin for the film "A Mighty Wind" and now she's using that talent for some good old rock and roll. She's credited as playing the mandolin on the new Dandy Warhols CD "Welcome to the Monkey House," and will also be on Ryan Adams' new CD "Rock N' Roll". You can order the Dandy Warhols CD now by going here, and Ryan Adams CD will be out November 4th.

'Amatuer' on DVD in November

September 20, 2003
Hal Hartley's film "Amatuer" will be released on DVD on November 11th. This is one of Parker's earlier works, and just one of several collaborations with Hal Hartley. You can pre-order your copy at amazon.com. I previously mentioned about Hartley's other film "Henry Fool" being released on DVD this past summer, but so far nothing has been heard from that.

'Party Girl' DVD Released (Again!)

September 20, 2003
The previous DVD of "Party Girl" was discontinued and an entirely new one was released by another production company, with slightly different artwork and no blatant typos on the back. You can view the DVD and order it here.

'Wind' Contest Winners

September 20, 2003
Slightly older news but I felt worth mentioning... The winners from the "A Mighty Wind" poster contest were Natalie B from Brooklyn, Brian N from Grand Rapids, and Sarah B from Miami.

On a Friday Night at the Getty

April 15, 2003
Lee over at the House of Parker group discovered an interesting bit of news. It appears that on May 23rd, the New Main Street Singers and the Folksmen from A Mighty Wind will be performing a concert at the Harold M. Williams Auditorium at the Getty Museum in Los Angeles. Reservations can be made starting April 25th with a limit of four seats per reservation. Parker's part in the movie is being part of the New Main Street Singers so I would hope that she would be a part of this, but it's not clearly known. For more information on this evening and reservations you can visit the Getty website.

Warner Bros. has generously offered to run a contest on this site for three lucky winner to win posters for the upcoming A Mighty Wind. 'Henry Fool' and 'Opera No.1' on DVD

April 15, 2003
Hal Hartley's film Henry Fool will be coming to DVD in June, and also this year we can expect a collection of his short films on DVD including Opera No.1 which includes Parker. More info on these DVD's later, but don't expect too many extras on these as most of Hal Hartley's DVD's really don't come with much other than the film. [Edit: As of September, there has been no news of either of these releases.]

'The Event' at Tribeca Film Festival

April 15, 2003
Parker's upcoming movie The Event, which screened at this year's Sundance Film Festival, will also be screening at the Tribeca Film Festival in May. 'A Mighty Wind' Soundtrack Out Now

April 15, 2003
Just a quick reminder that the soundtrack for A Mighty Wind was released last Tuesday.

A 'Mighty' Flashy Website

March 25, 2003
The official website for A Mighty Wind is now up and running at amightywindonline.com. The site completely utilizies Flash so you will need that to view anything more than just the main page. Once in the site you can view photos, small video clips, and listen to audio clips from the soundtrack as well as download desktops and screensavers. A reminder, A Mighty Wind opens in limited release on April 16th, with a wider release to follow later. The cities lucky enough for the limited release are: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Philedelphia, New York City, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Washington DC, and Toronto.

'Wind' Soundtrack due April 8thClick here to pre-order the soundtrack

March 23, 2003
The first item in the newly opened store, is the upcoming soundtrack to A Mighty Wind which will be released just 8 days before it's limited theatrical release on April 16th. Sony is releasing this 17 track (plus 1 video) CD on April 8th, and you can pre-order the CD and read the tracklisting by clicking here. I must say it will be really nice to have a soundtrack to one of Christopher Guest's movies, since we unfortunately didn't get one for Waiting for Guffman.

"Store" Now Open

March 23, 2003
In association with Amazon.com, I've added a new link to the site in the menu for a store which features everything that Amazon.com offers in relation to Parker (and even some that don't), including movies, soundtracks, and some narrations of audio books. By using the links in the store (and throughout the site) to go to Amazon.com you are helping support this site! There's also a link at the bottom for international users to use too! Thank you.

No Win for Parker but Win for Miller

March 23, 2003
While Parker didn't receive the award for Best Female Lead Saturday afternoon (Julianne Moore won), Rebecca Miller did accept the John Cassavetes Award for Personal Velocity. Congratulations to her and the entire cast and crew of the movie for an award well deserved.

Spirit Awards to Air Tonight!

March 22, 2003
The Independent Spirit Awards take place today in California and will air later tonight on Bravo. Parker is nominated for the "Best Female Lead" category for her role in Personal Velocity. You can catch an Awards Nomination Special on Bravo at 7:30/6:30pm hosted by Roger Ebert, and the actual awards show later at 10/9pm. Of course I would suggest checking with your local programming scheduling to make sure you don't miss it.

Tales of the City DVD

March 22, 2003
Tales of the City was released on DVD very quietly back in late February. This part of the trilogy probably features more of Parker than the latter two combined so it's quite a treat to be able to have it on DVD finally. There's quite a few special features on this three-disc set, such as behind the scenes footage, but I haven't heard if any of them feature Parker. You may order your copy of this set by clicking here.

'Personal Velocity' Released

March 22, 2003
Personal Velocity was released on DVD and VHS on Tuesday of this week, so if you haven't picked up your copy yet you can order here through amazon.com!

Interview with Zooey Deschanel

March 22, 2003
The newest Interview magazine with Kate Hudson features Parker interviewing actress Zooey Deschanel, most notably known for The Good Girl and Almost Famous. The interview seems more like a conversation between the two about their works. Good read.

'Mighty' Trailer Online and Poster

February 14, 2003
The trailer for A Mighty Wind can now be found online at amightywindmovie.com in all different formats and sizes. I recently saw the trailer on the big screen before "Bowling for Columbine" and it looks to be even more off the top than either Guffman or Show! Also, you can view the full poster for the movie by clicking the thumbnail on the left (a *big* thanks to Jake for this image).

'A Mighty Wind' Pic and FestivalA Mighty Wind - Parker's the 3rd on the left in the blonde wig

January 30, 2003
The first picture of Parker from A Mighty Wind came my way, care of Justin (thanks!), which you can see by clicking the thumbnail. Apparently Parker is the third from the left wearing the blonde wig. Looks to me like this is the scene where all the bands perform at Carnegie Hall. Also, Lee over at the Yahoo! Parker group mentions that A Mighty Wind will be playing at the South by Southwest Film Conference & Festival in Austin, Texas between March 7th and 15th. This could very well be it's premiere as there is no word yet as to any other festivals it might be playing, but I will keep you all posted.

Globe Pics in Magazines

January 30, 2003
I encourage everyone to skim through some of the weekly and monthly magazines that have come out recently and will be coming out for the next month or so, as they will most likely be having some spotlights on the recent Golden Globes. One magazine in particular is US Weekly (w/Christna Aguilera on the cover) which has a picture of Parker with a star from "About a Boy".

Updates & Delays

January 30, 2003
Just wanted to say that I have quite a few pics and updates and reorganizing to do to the site and it's been taking longer than expected to find time to actually do it all. I just want to thank everyone for their patience, and hopefully this year will bring some consistancy to this site.

No Globe for Parker, Bravo to Re-run Awards

January 20, 2003
While Parker didn't win the award, she was in attendance at the Golden Globe Awards wearing a vibrant yellow dress. The award went to Kim Cattrall from "Sex and the City" instead. The cable station Bravo will be re-running the awards show on January 25th at 11am (10 central) so you can catch it all over again. I've added 3 images of Parker on the red carpet to the images section, two smaller images and one larger image of Parker giving fellow nominee Megan Mullally bunny ears. It really is too cute. A big thanks to Christa for sending it my way.

First 'The Event' Review

January 20, 2003
The first review of The Event has come my way from an audience member who attended the premiere at Sundance. You can read the review on the movies credit page by clicking here. While it doesn't seem like a very positive review, let's just remember everyone has different tastes, and this is an honest review of this persons response to the movie.

Golden Globe Nomination, Airs 19th

January 16, 2003
Parker has been nominated for a Golden Globe in the "Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television" category for her role in the movie Hell on Heels: The Battle of Mary Kay. She faces some tough competition though, the full list of nominees in that category is:
  • Kim Cattrall "Sex and the City"
  • Megan Mullally "Will & Grace"
  • Cynthia Nixon "Sex and the City"
  • Parker Posey "Hell on Heels: The Battle of Mary Kay"
  • Gena Rowlands "Hysterical Blindness"
The awards will air this coming Sunday the 19th on NBC. Whether Parker will be there or not is a different question seeing as also happening on the 19th is...

'The Event' Premieres at Sundance

The 19th seems like a big day for Parker as her newest movie The Event will be premiering at the Sundance Film Festival with a few other screenings within the following days. Hopefully we will start hearing more about this film soon.

'Personal Velocity' on DVD/VHS

January 16, 2003
Unfortunately it didn't have a much wider release as we had expected, but you will be able to watch Personal Velocity over and over again in your own home when it will be coming to DVD and VHS on March 18th. The DVD will have a 5.1 Dolby Digital audio track shown in it's original widescreen 1.85 presentation and special features include an audio commentary by writer/director Rebecca Miller, as well as a featurette with Miller and cast members, and the theatrical trailer. To pre-order this movie, click here. While it is a bit disappointing that this movie didn't get a much wider release, despite critic's praise and very positive reviews, it is still playing in select threatres across the country.

'Fifth of July'

January 16, 2003
Parker's new play Fifth of July will have it's first public performance on Monday the 20th at Signature's Peter Norton Space in New York City. The play will have a total of 44 showings spread out until it's final performance on March 9th. Tickets are now onsale directly through the box office over the phone at (212) 244-7529 or online at the Signature Theatre website. If you plan on seeing Fifth of July, please send in any reviews you have and I will post them.

IFCTV.com Features Parker

January 16, 2003
The IFC original "Independent Film: A Documentary" is a mockumentary spoof on the making of independent film and is slowly being released as commericals, trailers, which are available to view on their website. The most recent one features Parker very briefly talking about a low budget trick. To view the clip go to IFCTV.com where you should see mentions of it.
