Parker to star in new Fox show
February 17, 2007

Parker Posey is coming to serialized television! (Well, if Fox decides to pick it up.) "Gilmore Girls" creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino, has created a new half-hour comedy for the Fox network, entitled The Return of Jezebel James with Parker in the lead. Parker will play a newly single children's book editor who learns she can't conceive, and will ask her younger sister to carry a baby for her. Sherman-Palladino says of Parker: "Because it's a comedy, the character runs the gamut of emotions from laughing to flipping out to breaking your heart in 22 minutes, and only one in a zillion people has enough skill and charm to pull that off. Parker Posey is that person." A big "thank you" to Karolyn for pointing this one out to me.

Superman Returns flies to DVD
December 4, 2006

Superman Returns was released in a multitude of ways last week. Here's a rundown of all the different versions, and a recommendation to which one you should probably get.

- The Standard Editions: Contains JUST the movie with NO special features. Available in widescreen or fullscreen.
- The Two-Disc Special Edition: Contains the movie in widescreen format as well as 11 deleted scenes, a comprehensive 3-hour documentary on the making of the film, as well as features on resurrected Marlon Brando to play Jor-El and a hidden easter egg.
- The High Defintion Experience: The HD-DVD/DVD combo version contains the film and special features in Hi-Def on one side, and just the movie in standard DVD format on the other, while the Blu-ray version is strictly Hi-Def but includes all the special features. Please note, you do need HD-DVD and Blu-ray players to play these discs, except for the standard DVD side of the HD-DVD version.
- The Ultimate Collector's Edition: A 14-disc edition that contains the Two-Disc Special Edition of Superman Returns as well as the first four Superman movies in various special edition versions, including the recently released Richard Donner cut of Superman II, the documentaries Look, Up in the Sky!: The Amazing Story of Superman and You Will Believe: The Cinematic Saga of Superman, AND Bryan Singer's Journals on the making of the newest film.

So, with all these different versions to choose from, which one should you get? Well, unless you have a Hi-Def player, the HD and Blu-rary versions are out. Single disc with no features? I think not. For a little bit more money, you're better off getting the Two-Disc. BUT that Ultimate Collector's Edition is a pretty good deal and the only place you'll be able to find Bryan Singer's Journals, which are bound to have some Parker Posey footage in them.

The Superman Returns video game was also released which contains voice work by Parker. You can find that available on PS2, Xbox 360, Xbox, Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance. There's even a Monopoly version of the movie which has Parker in it! Unfortunately, there's no Kitty action figures.

More Superman Returns!
June 20, 2006

MSN has an exclusive clip entitled "I Was Going To Pretend," featuring Parker, and exclusive behind-the-scenes footage/interviews with the cast. I would really recommend NOT watching this "Pretend" clip and waiting to see it as part of the movie, as it does spoil a pretty hilarious scene.

Superman Returns!
June 18, 2006

LOTS of information regarding the upcoming Superman Returns movie.

- The release date was bumped up two days to Wednesday, June 28th.
- The official site at SupermanReturns.com has been updated and revamped with pictures, wallpapers and the like. Unfortunately, not a lot in the way of Kitty...
- There is an official MySpace page for the movie here, which includes all the trailers and TV spots.
- 11 clips from the movie (one featuring Parker - "Do You Know The Story of Prometheus?") have been released and are viewable at Movies.com.
- A set of interviews from a recent press junket are floating around the internet. While they all seem to have the same types of questions, they're all worth the read, especially since Parker discusses her other current projects: Superhero Hype!, Comic Book Resources, She Knows.

As one who very luckily saw an advance screening of this movie, I can tell you that Parker is hilarious in this role and is featured more than I expected. I can't wait to see it again!
